We are incredibly excited to have RVT Jodi Strickland on our team! She will be joining the Cumberland County Animal Hospital team as our Hospital Manager!
Being in a military family, Jodi grew up all around Canada. Though Jodi has been a constant nomad, she has chosen Amherst as the place to raise her kids and has called Amherst home for more than 20 years.
Jodi graduated from NSAC with a BSc major in Aquaculture and then she graduated for a second time from NSAC from the Animal Health Technology program. After 10 years of employment at Amherst Vet as a registered veterinary technician, she pursued different endeavors which included owning/managing a local business until an opportunity arose at the NS SPCA in Dartmouth – where she had been working as a lead technician for the past 4 1/2 years. Jodi has known Dr. Lesley Steele for more than a decade -so, when the opportunity arose to lead our team (plus be close to home and not have to travel!) she jumped at the chance to combine her leadership, veterinary technician skills and business experience to lead our team!
Summer is Jodi’s favorite season, and you can often find her outside on her deck enjoying nachos and a cocktail! Jodi and her husband George have three children – Liam, Taylor & Madelynn, and also share their home with many pets! Jodi & George own a mastiff named Rosie and a French bulldog named Lenny. They also have FIVE cats- Fox, Otzi, Peach, Binx & Winston! Jodi is our kitten program leader, and we often make the joke that she is the crazy cat lady of the hospital as she couldn’t help but to take three kittens from our program home already (she says she won’t take anymore home but this is to be determined ;))!
