Nicole
CSR/VA
Nicole, a proud local from the Amherst area, has been passionate about working with animals since she was 14. Her deep love for animals and wealth of experience makes her a wonderful addition to our team! Nicole holds a degree in Enterprise Management: Companion Animals from Dalhousie Agricultural College, is Level One Certified in Animal Behavior Training (yes, she taught a pot-bellied pig to bowl!), and has completed a two-year certification course with the Canadian Association for Zoos and Aquariums, qualifying her as a zookeeper. Nicole’s diverse background also includes working on dairy farms and in veterinary medicine for many years. In her free time, Nicole enjoys exploring her beautiful 80-acre property on Big Lake with her dog, Loki. She’s a nature enthusiast who loves practicing Reiki, meditating, and savoring a good cup of tea. Her deep appreciation for life and the natural world brings warmth and positivity to our clinic every day. We’re thrilled to have Nicole on our team, and we know you’ll love her compassionate care for your furry family members!
Questions
-
What is your favorite animal and why?
Snakes! As a kid, I thought it was hilarious that my mom and sister hated them, so naturally, I became their biggest fan.
-
If you could communicate with animals, what’s the first thing you’d ask them?
“Do humans taste good?” Because honestly, I’m curious what they think!
-
Can you share a pet care tip or trick that people might not know about?
When giving your pet a pill, hide it in something delicious and follow it up with a syringe of water. The water helps them swallow, making the process smoother for both of you.
-
How do you approach difficult cases or diagnoses?
I tackle tough situations with a “punch of positivity” and try to view things from different perspectives. Staying optimistic helps me remain calm and focused, which benefits not only the animal, but everyone involved. I also approach cases by considering how the animal might be feeling, which helps create a more soothing environment.

What advice would you give pet owners to ensure their pets lead healthy lives?
Think carefully and thoroughly before committing to a pet, especially when it comes to finances. Responsible planning is key to giving your pet the healthy, happy life they deserve.
